Makovsky Adds Two to Support Continued Health Practice Growth

Health Practice Secures 100% Client Retention in 2011 While Adding New Clients to Roster
 

NEW YORK, December 1, 2011 – Makovsky + Company announced today the addition of two new team members to its Health Practice:  Beth Conner joins as assistant vice president, and Eliza Merves as account executive.  Both bring to the firm unique insight in pharmaceuticals, advocacy relations and are skilled in social media to reach reporters, health professionals, patients, financial analysts and policy makers.

Beth Conner worked previously at Edelman Public Relations Health in Chicago and New York City, where she managed consumer and patient-focused initiatives for pharmaceutical clients in Alzheimer’s disease, cancer and women’s health categories.  During her six years at that agency, she guided client media strategy, developed press materials and issued standby statements and supported global strategy for pipeline and in-market women’s health products.  Her many accomplishments included coordination of a media tour with former Charlie’s Angel Cheryl Ladd in support of a menopause education campaign and initiatives for breast cancer prevention awareness.

Eliza Merves, who works currently on a Makovsky Health account supporting cholesterol awareness, is a former Ogilvy Public Relations employee.  During her tenure at that agency, she helped organize and implement large-scale consumer campaigns, and coordinated logistics for celebrity spokespeople.  She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Mass Communications from Towson University in May 2010.
