Makovsky, one of the world’s leading integrated communications firms, is currently seeking an Account Executive or Senior Account Executive to support public relations, social media and issues management programs developed for our energy, sustainability, and manufacturing clients.

With our public affairs, energy, environmental and manufacturing experience, Makovsky’s rapidly growing D.C. Office is at the intersection of business, advocacy groups, the government, and the media. Makovsky helps clients engage policymakers, influence the influencers, connect with customers, and be recognized by the media.

The firm has a long track record of spearheading successful public affairs, energy and sustainability campaigns. Staff are experts at boiling down complex issues and information, and persuasively articulating our clients point of view to a broad range of DC and national stakeholders through multiple channels. Makovsky has helped numerous clients increase brand awareness through thought leadership, media relations, social media outreach, website development, and marketing materials. Makovsky’s D.C. Office is led by the former head of public affairs for the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Researches, develops, implements, and manages day-to-day client activities and deadlines
  • Crafts, pitches and places positive stories by and about clients in national, trade and local media, when appropriate
  • Creates communications materials (e.g. Q&A, press releases, issues briefs, backgrounders, etc.)
  • Develops and fosters relationships with clients and external audiences; ongoing representation of clients to media, influencers and analysts
  • Manages logistics of client events
  • Plans and implements clients’ social media programs
  • Contributes to program development for clients and new business proposals

  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously


Professional Background and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree; 2-4 years’ work experience in public relations, public affairs and/or media relations with energy, sustainability or manufacturing clients
