Decision reversed.

Shortly before the Medicare Part D launch, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) withdrew coverage for KOS Pharmaceutical’s cholesterol drug Niaspan®. With access to lifesaving medication jeopardized for millions of seniors, Makovsky Health helped KOS move key advocates from awareness to action – and the public policy and awareness campaign resulted in CMS reversing its decision. Soon after, KOS Pharmaceuticals was acquired by Abbott for $3.7 billion, reaffirming Niaspan’s clinical value and rightful place among Part D formularies.  Abbott retained Makovsky to continue supporting Niaspan.
